What to Expect

The approach

  • Clinical Hypnotherapy to access the subconscious and update unhelpful patterns.
  • Strategic Psychotherapy to install practical strategies for daily life.
  • Stories & metaphors to gently bypass resistance and support change.
  • Collaborative—you stay in control and can pause or stop anytime.

Session format

  • Tailored plan across 6–12 weekly or fortnightly sessions (60 mins each).
  • In person (Cairns) or secure Zoom—same care, whichever you prefer.
  • Simple between‑session tools to reinforce change.
  • Listen to the session recording to embed the change.

Results vary person‑to‑person. Hypnotherapy complements (but doesn’t replace) medical or psychological care.

How We Help With Specific Concerns

Anxiety

We target the processes that fuel anxiety—catastrophic thinking, body hyper‑arousal, and safety‑seeking loops.

  • Train calm breathing + somatic down‑regulation under hypnosis.
  • Reframe triggers and reduce over‑generalised fear responses.
  • Install strategic “micro‑skills” for sleep, social, and performance anxieties.

Suitable for general anxiety, situational anxiety, and stress. For complex presentations, we collaborate with your GP/psychologist.

Procrastination

Procrastination isn’t laziness—it’s an avoidance strategy. We change the sequence driving delay.

  • Shift perfectionism/all‑or‑nothing thinking that stalls action.
  • Create “low‑friction” action cues and 5‑minute momentum starts.
  • Use hypnotic rehearsal to make starting feel safer and easier.

Pain Management

Hypnosis can help modulate the brain’s experience of pain and reduce associated stress.

  • Teach self‑hypnosis for comfort, relaxation, and sleep.
  • Reframe pain‑threat appraisal and lower catastrophising.
  • Support pacing and flare‑up plans alongside medical care.

We work in partnership with your healthcare team. Always seek medical advice for diagnosis and treatment.

Phobias

Phobias are learned fear responses. We help the brain relearn safety.

  • Gradual, strategic exposure paired with calm state training.
  • Update fear predictions with hypnotic imagery and cognitive reframing.
  • Install rapid stabilising skills for real‑world situations.

Depression (low mood)

We address behavioural shutdown, hopeless narratives, and depleted motivation—gently and practically.

  • Build micro‑routines that reintroduce movement, mastery, and connection.
  • Interrupt rumination and install kinder self‑talk.
  • Use imagery to rehearse valued actions and future pacing.

If you experience thoughts of self‑harm, please contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately. We can work as part of your wider care plan.

Motivation

Motivation grows when tasks feel possible, meaningful, and rewarding.

  • Clarify valued goals and shrink tasks to easy starts.
  • Hypnotic future‑pacing to “feel” success and reduce fear of failure.
  • Consistency plans that fit your real life (not wishful thinking).

Trauma

We work safely and steadily to reduce triggers, rebuild regulation, and restore a sense of agency.

  • Stabilisation first: grounding, orientation, and nervous‑system regulation.
  • Resource building and gentle, titrated processing—never rushing.
  • Reclaim strengths and identity beyond the trauma story.

For complex trauma, we can collaborate with your existing therapist/clinician for an integrated approach.

Safety, Ethics & Your Rights

  • Informed consent: we explain the process, benefits, and limits; you can pause or stop anytime.
  • Privacy & confidentiality: your information is protected. Limits apply if there’s risk of harm, child/vulnerable‑person risk, criminal intent, or a lawful order.
  • Scope of practice: we don’t diagnose or replace medical/psychiatric care; referrals provided when helpful.
  • Duty of disclosure: please share relevant health updates and medications so we can keep you safe.

If you’re in crisis or at risk, contact emergency services. Australia: Lifeline 13 11 14 · Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636.

What Real Progress With Pain Actually Looks Like

Many people expect progress to look like: But nervous-system change is often quieter. Real progress often looks like: Sometimes clients say: “Nothing happened.” And that’s often the first sign of regulation. Calm comes before change.Safety comes before relief. And stability is built through familiarity, not force.

Why Midlife Pain Is Often About More Than the Body

Midlife is a transition. And transitions tax the nervous system. For many women, this stage includes: Pain often rises during times of change, not weakness. It can be the body’s way of saying: “Something has been carried for a long time.” This doesn’t mean pain is emotional in a simplistic way.It means the nervous system…

Why Pain Reset & Rewire™ Follows a Sequence (And Why That Matters)

Many pain approaches jump straight to change: But a nervous system that doesn’t feel safe resists change. That’s why Pain Reset & Rewire™ follows a sequence: RESET Create safety in the bodyReduce global threatLower urgency REWIRE Change the meaning of painReduce fear and catastrophisingSoften amplification REALIGN Restore choiceBuild confidence in responseSupport long-term stability Each stage…
